In France, around twenty companies have already authorized the presence of their employees' dogs on their premises.Magali Gavaret, communication director at Purina France, hopes that other companies will take the plunge and dare this concept. At Purina headquarters, around 40 animals already have their entry badge. Fifteen dogs should soon get the precious sesame. And all breeds are present, from chihuahua to husky.
The benefits of an animal in the office
Coming to work with your pet would have several advantages. First of all, it increases the quality of life within the company because the dog will help create bonds between employees. Looking at or touching a dog helps produce endomorphin and oxytocin, two hormones that reduce the effects of stress. Finally, the presence of a dog is beneficial since it increases employee productivity and reduces stress.
The rules to follow
While you are allowed and even encouraged to bring your dog to the office, you will still have to follow certain rules.Your dog must be clean, sociable, covered by insurance and up to date with his vaccinations. Your company must also delimit authorized and prohibited zones. For example, it will be impossible for you to eat with your dog in the canteen. Finally, although this practice is authorized by French law, you must obtain the authorization of your employer, your colleagues and the corporate officers to come with your animal. On the other hand, 1st category attack dogs are not allowed.
